DAWSON ESTATE NATURE PLAYGROUND

Public BBQ

This delightful little park has clearly been through quite the evolution. What struck me most wasn't just the excellent barbecue facilities tucked under a proper shelter, but the fact that someone finally listened to years of visitor complaints and installed toilets,a development that apparently transformed this from "nice but impractical" to "Busselton's favourite playground." The kids' facilities are genuinely impressive: flying fox, basketball courts, climbing frames, and water play areas woven through beautiful native gardens. It's the sort of place where birthday parties happen regularly, which tells you everything about its family appeal. The soft green grass provides perfect picnic territory, while walkways meander through thoughtfully planned gardens. What amused me was reading the evolution in visitor feedback, years of "great place, shame about the toilet situation" suddenly transformed into pure enthusiasm once basic amenities arrived.
